4月25日下午，为鼓励学生关注时政，正确认识世界和中国发展大势，外国语开元(中国)于图书馆417举行了以“从‘习特会’看中美两国关系发展”为主题的外语角。原浙江海洋大学校党委书记周克非、水产开元(中国)辅导员金枫应邀出席，外国语开元(中国)党委书记许金权、郭岚老师、朱峰老师以及二十余名学生代表参加了此次活动，学工办余妮泽老师为活动主持人。
首先，余妮泽老师宣布开场并介绍到场来宾，接着邀请金枫老师简述了“习特会”的背景，这是自美国新政府就职以来中美两国元首首次面对面沟通，对中美关系的发展具有重要意义。接着与会人员畅所欲言，就“习特会”的主要内容、成果及意义进行了热烈讨论。最后周书记对大家的发言进行了总结，还以一个“从字母看习特会大事”的游戏加深了同学们对“习特会”的学习认识。
此次讨论中，同学们见仁见智、自由讨论，用英语流畅表达出自己对这次举世瞩目会议的看法，其中不乏一些精彩观点：
林金艳： They have the same kind of concepts like “overturning society”, the same kind of idea of “you can't have construction without destruction”. (不破不立) They are both pragmatist.
王佩：We may not always initially agree on exactly how best to achieve our shared objectives. But when we successfully work together we often find mutually beneficial outcomes that serve the interests of all parties. I reject the notion that China and the United States are engaged in a zero-sum competition, where one side must fall for the other to rise. We can and must achieve security and prosperity together.
叶芸： From the meeting of Xi Jinping and Trump, the two leaders said that the development of China-US relations will be the next focus. From the subsequent interview of Trump, we can see Trump's attitude towards China is still very friendly. In my opinion, this meeting ruined the possibility of Chinese criminals fleeing to the United States. I think Trump as a president, will benefit the reunification of China, Trump clearly said that he sticks to "there is only one China in the world.” The Taiwan issue is likely to become a business, which will be easily for China to recover Taiwan.
钟莉芬：As the host said America worry about China will affect its economy, whether it supports the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be a question. And we think it may not.
作为新时代的大学生，了解时政关心时局是我们的基本素质。而此次外语角活动与时政结合，不但提高了学生的英语口语能力，更加强了思想政治建设，提高了政治素养，使我们在今后的政治理论学习活动中，更能深刻把握重要思想和精神实质。
